10. Dirk Nowitzki’s Efficiency

It’s entirely fair to expect a 37-year-old Dirk Nowitzki to experience something of a decline. Even as one of the greatest shooters in NBA history, father time is destined to catch up with Nowitzki at some point.

Or is it?

At 37 years old, Nowitzki is just shy of the pace to make another appearance in the 50-40-90 club. He’s averaging 16.9 points on a slash line of .509/.466/.898, which would be impressive for a player of any age.

The fact that he’s doing this at an age that generally signals the end of a career make his efficiency all the more impressive.

Nowitzki will need to be slightly more efficient at the free throw line—0.2 percent more efficient, to be precise—to make the 50-40-90 club. It would be the second time in his career that he achieved the feat, having previously done so in 2006-07.

According to Basketball-Reference.com, Nowitzki would be the oldest player in NBA history to go 50-40-90.
