The Basics

It’s only been 18 games, but Andre Drummond has been a legitimate MVP candidate early in the season. He’s averaging 18.4 points, 16.9 rebounds, 5.9 offensive boards, 1.8 steals and 1.6 blocks in 35.0 minutes of action per game.

In a set of statistics that project to sustain, Drummond leads the league in rebounds, offensive rebounds and double-doubles.

Beyond the awe-inspiring numbers has been a genuine improvement in his fundamentals. He plays with significantly more confidence offensively, specifically when outside of the paint.

That newfound confidence has gone a long way towards Drummond transitioning from a statistical wonder to a genuine force to be reckoned with. He still has areas in which he must progress, but undeniable progress has been made.

That all starts on the offensive end of the floor.
