Detroit Pistons: Evaluating Andre Drummond’s Development
Stan Van Gundy is one of the most successful head coaches of his era. He doesn’t yet have a championship, but Van Gundy has a career win percentage of .608 in the regular season, an NBA Finals appearance, and three trips to the Eastern Conference Finals.
The starting centers on Van Gundy’s rosters during his tenures as head coach of the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic, respectively: Shaquille O’Neal and Dwight Howard.
Now the man in charge of the Detroit Pistons, Van Gundy is attempting to build a contender with a formula that’s worked in the past. With an emphasis on 3-point shooting and a crafty guard who can create, all that’s missing is the dominant man in the middle.

Andre Drummond was an enigma coming out of college, but he quickly silenced his critics by thriving as a force on the boards. His offensive game was overwhelmingly raw, but Drummond made the All-Rookie Second Team and has since steadily emerged as a nightly double-double threat.
Thus far in 2015-16, Drummond has proven to be more than just a fantasy basketball superstar; he’s emerged as Detroit’s franchise player.
