With the new NBA season now under way, it’s time to really get excited about what this season could hold for the Orlando Magic. While expectations remain pretty modest, a new head coach in Scott Skiles and more young talent mean this is a team that could make a bit of noise in the less competitive Eastern conference.

With that in mind let’s take a more in depth look at the starting five.

Already we’ve looked at Elfrid Payton, Victor OladipoNikola Vucevic and Tobias Harris. I wanted to wait until the season began to round out the starting five, and with good reason as well. Initially I thought Aaron Gordon would start for this team, but part of me also felt that new head coach Scott Skiles might have a trick or two up his sleeve.

This has proved to be the case, with Evan Fournier starting the first two games of the season (he played 27 minutes in the opener against the Washington Wizards, and 45 minutes in the double-overtime loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder) for this team. It may not continue as the season wears on, but right now it’s a vote of confidence for a player who was underused last season.
