Chicago Bulls: 5 Early Takeaways From Training Camp
Another season, another injury for Rose
After tearing his ACL in the opening game of the 2012 playoffs, Derrick Rose has not had much luck with regards to staying healthy. And this year is proving to be no exception.
During the very first practice under the new coaching regime, Rose sustained a left orbital fracture after he was elbowed in the face. Needless to say, this is not the ideal way to begin training camp when considering the team will be without Mike Dunleavy for at least two months.
The good news is this injury is not as a severe as the previous ones that kept the Bulls guard sidelined for significant periods of time, and he is expected to resume basketball activities in two weeks. Even more important, Rose should be able to play when opening night rolls around.
The downside in this scenario is Rose will miss all of training camp and will not have an opportunity to learn Hoiberg’s new system until he returns to the court. This is a somewhat ominous sign for a player that mentioned he is already looking ahead to free agency during the team’s media day.
