Jamal Murray, Kentucky

I’ve said it once, I’ve said it probably eight times this summer: Jamal Murray will most likely become the best floor general that John Calipari has ever coached in college.

(Reminder: John Calipari has coached John Wall, Derrick Rose, Tyreke Evans and Brandon Knight.)

No really, I’ve said it:

Since April at the Nike Hoop Summit, Murray’s stock has skyrocketed and for good reason. Murray has excellent vision and makes everyone on the floor better. If anyone is going to pull a D’Angelo Russell and jumped into the top two selections next June, Murray might be the odds-on favorite. His play at the Pan-American Games for Team Canada only made his case stronger.

Calipari took over at Kentucky before the 2009-10 season, and ever since then, only twice* has a Kentucky player not gone within the top three selections (2013 and 2014).

*In the 2012 NBA Draft, Enes Kanter went third overall. He originally committed to Kentucky before being ruled ineligible due to playing for the Turkish national team.

With Labissiere possibly going No. 1 or No. 2, Murray has a great chance to make it two for three in terms of Kentucky atop the NBA draft board.
