Jaylen Brown, Cal Golden Bears

Cuonzo Martin is doing a fantastic job building California into a legitimate contender in just his second season. His prized prospect so far is Jaylen Brown, a 6’7″ wing from Marietta, Ga.

Brown seems like a kid cut from the same cloth as Stanley Johnson, one of Sean Miller‘s prized recruits last season, and the No. 8 overall pick in June’s draft. He’s got great size already (6’7″, 220 pounds) and plays with frantic energy and a high motor. The explosiveness is there on every drive to the basket.

Built like an NBA wing before his college career even begins, Brown has All-Pac 12 First Team written all over him, and with the help of five-star recruit Ivan Rabb in the frontcourt, Cal looks like a dangerous team out west this season.

He’s a confident kid — already going on record saying that Cal can win it all — and it shows with his play. One good season with Martin and the Golden Bears is going to get Brown a good sum of cash next summer. After Labissere and Simmons, Brown may be the next best option.
