The NBA free agency period has been hot and heavy from the start, but the fun and excitement may not be over just yet if you’re a fan of the Detroit Pistons.
The reason being is that the Denver Post’s Christopher Dempsey reports that the Pistons could be players for unrestricted free agent Darrell Arthur.

It’s been a well-known belief that the Nuggets were optimistic about reaching a deal with Arthur, however it now appears Detroit could be in the fray to lure Arthur away from Denver.
It is worth noting that Arthur does not fit the mold of the type of player that Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy and general manager Jeff Bower are reportedly interested in. However, Arthur is a great defensive player and could be solid in terms of a depth player.
In 2014-15, Arthur averaged 6.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.8 steals in 17 minutes per game for (58 games, four starts).
The 6’9″, 235-pound, 27-year-old power forward is a solid perimeter defender, but has had issues with his shot ever since being drafted 27th overall in 2008, he holds career shooting numbers of 44.2 percent from the field, 27.4 percent from deep and 76.2 percent from the charity stripe.

Arthur played his collegiate ball at Kansas, where he was a part of the 2007-08 national championship team. He was then drafted by the New Orleans Hornets in 2008, but wound up with the Memphis Grizzlies following a couple of trades.
Then on June 27, 2013, Arthur was traded to the Nuggets along with 55th overall draft pick Joffrey Lauvergne in exchange for Kosta Koufos.
The argument can be made that adding Arthur to the roster in the Motor City wouldn’t be too logical in the sense that Quincy Miller is expected to emerge as an athletic 3-and-D forward.
Are the Pistons really interested Darrell Arthur? Or are Van Gundy and company simply doing what the should be doing and staying relevant in the market?
Only time will tell.
