Stanley Johnson

Stanley Johnson was drafted eighth overall by the Pistons and on draft day was projected to be a starter. But that status could be in jeopardy after the Pistons acquired Marcus Morris in a trade with the Suns.

It will be interesting to see if Johnson holds back in Summer League or pushes himself knowing that Stan Van Gundy will be watching to see if he’s ready to start at the NBA level. Pistons fans can also get a first look at Johnson’s defense as he comes to the league with a reputation as a capable defender.

In Summer League, Johnson’s lockdown defense will be put to the test by better athletes than he experienced playing at the college level.
