Golden State Warriors: 5 Reasons To Remain Calm For Game 5
5. Klay Thompson Still Hasn’t Played Well
The only positive from Curry’s scary fall last night was the fact that once he went to the locker room, the rest of the team seemed galvanized. As they looked to close out the second quarter, the Dubs started playing with purpose for their fallen MVP. After Curry’s fall, the Warriors closed the half on a 23-14 run to pull within 10.
The catalyst behind that momentum shift was without a doubt Klay Thompson, who knocked down four consecutive three-pointers after Curry left the floor. Before Steph’s fall, Thompson had four points on 2-of-5 shooting. Afterward, he closed the second quarter with 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting.
Still, even with Thompson’s second quarter outburst, it wasn’t enough. He scored just eight points and made only three of his 11 field goal attempts in the second half. For the game, he finished with a team-high 24 points.
Making six of his 13 three-point attempts was impressive. But he went 9-for-21 from the floor, and can anyone really say Klay Thompson has had a “great” game in this series yet?
That’s not encouraging considering this particular matchup, especially since Klay, for the most part, has been roasted by James Harden. But with Curry coming off that scary fall and the Dubs returning home, perhaps this is the perfect time for the other Splash Brother to show up with a signature Game 5.
