Fantasy Basketball: (Early) Top 5 Power Forwards For 2015-16
Paul Millsap, Atlanta Hawks
Not so quietly anymore, Millsap has been among the best power forwards in fantasy basketball for the past few seasons.
He offered a unique 2014-15 stat line of 16.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.1 three-pointers, 1.8 steals, and about one block per game. He shot 47.6 percent from the field and 75.7 percent from the free-throw line. Basically, anything that you wanted out of a fantasy player, Paul Millsap provided a small helping of it.
That’s one of the positives about Millsap’s game, but also one of the perceived negatives. He’s not the type of player to explode for headline-grabbing performances, but still puts together a multi-category season stat sheet worthy of a selection in the first two rounds.
Assuming he stays in Atlanta, it’s fair to expect more of the same. A player that won’t hurt you in any category, and a sneaky-good source of steals and three-pointers from your power forward slot. Assuming you miss out on the top-tier guys, Millsap is a definite target, and there is an argument to be made that he could be moved ahead of the third player on this list, Serge Ibaka.
If other owners in your draft continue to underrate Millsap, and allow him to fall into the depths of the second round, know you are getting one of the more rounded players in fantasy basketball and select him with confidence.
