2. Will Tobias Harris Stick Around?

Tobias Harris is a restricted free agent this summer. Having his most well rounded season to date, there’s ever reason to think a team with some money and a need to invest with youth will come in with an offer (we’re looking at you, New York Knicks). Now the Magic can match any offer that comes the way of Harris, but if it’s a large one (Let’s say an eye-watering $16 million a year for argument’s sake) they may let him walk.

Harris has had his best season as a pro to date, but his role on this team divides opinion. I’m sure he feels himself he’s a starter and integral to the future of this franchise. Some nights, I’d absolutely agree with that. Others feel he’d be better suited in a sixth man role, and I can see the argument for that as well. You don’t pay bench players outrageous sums though.

You could argue he’s behind Nikola Vucevic, Victor Oladipo and even Elfrid Payton in the pecking order of who is most important to this team going forward. That may ultimately make him expendable (Remember, the money spend on potentially re-signing Harris can’t go on other players) even though it would be great to have him back.

It’s a tricky situation. In an ideal world Harris would come back to the team for a fair amount of money, and the team would continue to grow together. He’s a lot more polished offensively these days, and losing him could also set the team back somewhat. Keeping him would be great, but his future may sadly lie elsewhere.
