The Portland Trail Blazers aren’t panicking despite being on a three-game losing streak, according to shooting guard Wesley Matthews.
Wesley Matthews and the Portland Trail Blazers are sitting at 32-16 on the season, and are in fourth place in the Western Conference. They are on a three-game losing streak at the moment, and there is some concern beginning to grow among the fans and some analysts about them moving forward.

Despite the losing streak, Matthews made it clear that the Blazers aren’t panicking at this point in time.
“We’re in a tough stretch,” Matthews said. “No sugarcoating it. We’re not playing well. Still no state of panic, no state of emergency. This was a (crap) road trip. It was. We’re better than this and we’ve got to be better.”
It has been a rough stretch for nearly every player on the Trail Blazers’ roster. Damian Lillard has been going through a major shooting slump and hasn’t been able to step up and be the second number one scorer that they need him to be. Robin Lopez and Nicolas Batum have been dealing with some nagging injuries that they are working to come back from, and there are plenty of other factors that add into the problems.
That being said, Matthews is looking at things the right way with those quotes. Portland still has all of the talent in the world to turn things around, but they need to get back to playing up to their potential.
They have been very impressive in almost every major category, and are top-10 in all of them. Portland is currently sitting at eighth in the NBA in points per game, fourth in rebounds per game, ninth in assists per game, and seventh in points allowed. Those numbers are all very impressive, but they need to get their health back and find their shots again.
Portland has all of the tools that they need to make a legitimate run at a championship. They have their dominant big man in LaMarcus Aldridge, star point guard in Lillard, and a very deep team and supporting cast around them.
All of that being said, the losing streak is a bit of a disappointment but it is merely a bump in the road. The Blazers are going to figure things out over the next couple of weeks, and they will get back to being a legitimate contender in the Western Conference. Matthews is remaining calm, as should the rest of the Trail Blazers.
