2. Fewer Injuries

It’s no secret that the Magic have been hampered by injury quite a bit this season. It’s the same for every team of course, so it’s not exactly a valid excuse when talking about why they’ve been poor for patches.

But the fact is they’re not as deep as many teams in the Eastern Conference alone, never mind the cutthroat West, and so injuries do hurt this team more than others. Already, Vucevic has missed some time with a back problem.

Neither Frye nor Oladipo could start the season due to both having knee strains. Oladipo then suffered a facial fracture in practice, forcing him to sit out longer still. He’s back now and making up for lost time which is great to see, it just would have been better if he’d been around to start the season.

He’s an exciting talent, and is only getting better. Worse again, rookie Aaron Gordon suffered a foot fracture early on and is still out indefinitely. While it was a short term blow, hopefully it is not the beginning of an injury-plagued career as well. So let’s hope that 2015 brings with it players spending much less time on the treatment table.
