4. Klay Thompson, Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors gave Klay Thompson a maximum contract extension this past offseason, and he has played very well so far this season. He has been an excellent compliment for Stephen Curry over the past couple of seasons, but now he is more like an equal and the two players are playing exceptionally well together. At this point in time, the Warriors are 20-2 on the season and look like legitimate title contenders.

Thompson has averaged 21.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game this season. He has shot 44.7 percent from the field and 43.1 percent from behind the three-point arc. Those numbers show just how successful Thompson has been this year, and the Warriors need him to continue putting up similar stats the rest of the way to have a chance at an NBA Finals appearance.

Without him on the roster, the Warriors wouldn’t be nearly the team that they are this season. He still has a ways to go to live up to the maximum extension, but he is off to a very solid start.
