Atlanta Hawks: Plenty Of Effort, But Shooting Needs To Improve
By Adam McGee
Thabo Sefolosha
As a free agent signing this summer, Sefolosha’s primary focus was to bring his outstanding perimeter defense skills to add more depth for what has traditionally been an area of weakness in Atlanta.
To be fair to Sefolosha, he hasn’t disappointed in that regard either, even giving a welcome but slightly surprising rebound boost, but he needs his shot to start dropping.
With his numbers having dropped to a career low of 41.5 percent from the field and 31.6 percent from deep last season, there was evidence that Sefolosha had entered a little bit of a shooting slump in his career. Yet with his 3-point percentage down at 10 percent to start the new season, it’s now an uncomfortable new low.
When Sefolosha has an open shot, he’s currently hesitating and over thinking it way too much. Sefolosha is capable, so he needs to be brave, confident, and try to shoot them in rhythm in order to turn things around.
