Boy, was the first week of the NBA extremely fun to watch. It only goes to show how much we missed the game so. There have been many interesting story lines that have developed within our NBA Rookie of the Year race.

More from Hoops Habit

Firstly, let me say this: “Congratulations, K.J McDaniels, you found yourself a spot within our rankings.” It was long overdue (though only a week) but it was much deserved. McDaniels has played as well as any rookie in the 2014 NBA Draft class. With one rookie entering our top 10 list, that means that one person has to fall off.

On another note: Nik Stauskas, sorry to say but we had to do it to you. This week has not been the most impressive, no points, no minutes. Go play some on-ball defense and we can put you back on our list. Good job against the Clippers getting three blocks though!

This week was really exciting for the rookies though, they have progressively gotten better and stepped up their games. This week we got to see Jabari Parker finally hit the boards, Nerlens Noel rise to the occasion, and Dougie McBuckets give us our first comparison to Wally Szczerbiak.

Let’s begin.
