4. Calvin Murphy

Calvin Murphy’s accolades certainly wouldn’t prompt a confounded reaction by NBA fans. He garnered one All-Star appearance in 1979 and was a member of the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 1970-71; however, although Murphy was markedly undersized, his accomplishments on the hardwood floor were nothing short of astounding. Standing at just 5-foot-9, the diminutive point guard overcame his shortcomings by utilizing his quickness and speed to average a lofty 17.9 points on 48 percent shooting from the field and 4.4 assists per game in his 13-year career — all of which were spent with the Rockets. Murphy shot a sky high free throw percentage, averaging just less than 90 percent from the charity stripe for his career, and he garnered the Rockets’ all-time scoring record before the man who holds the No. 1 spot on this list claimed Houston’s scoring title. Additionally, Murphy’s induction to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993 solidified his legacy as one of the greatest players to ever sport a Houston Rockets jersey.
