5. Clyde Drexler

Anyone who’s witnessed Clyde “The Glide” Drexler play the game watched in awe as he would soar to the basket from seemingly implausible takeoff points, extending his arm along the way to deliver the basketball at the bucket before landing gracefully on the hardwood — which makes it all the more fitting that he’s played for the Houston Rockets.

The clip below perfectly encapsulates his ability to levitate to the hoop, which is how The Glide earned his nickname.

In addition to Clyde’s agile athleticism, his all-around skill set helped revolutionize the forward position. His arrival to Houston quickly revitalized the team, and he helped lead the Rockets to an improbable NBA championship in 1995. During the championship season, Drexler managed 22 points, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals per game, and he holds the Rockets’ single-game record for steals with 10. As a testament to his versatility, Drexler is one of only three NBA players to eclipse 20,000 points, 6,000 rebounds, and 6,000 assists for his career, which not only cemented his name as a Houston Rockets great, but also as an all-time NBA legend.
