Channing Frye, Orlando Magic

Despite building around an extremely young core, the Orlando Magic also felt the need to add a little bit of veteran experience by acquiring Ben Gordon and Channing Frye in free agency. Unfortunately, those two veteran presences literally collided, resulting in a sprained MCL in Frye’s left knee. He is out indefinitely and will miss Orlando’s preseason opener against the Miami Heat tonight.

Victor Oladipo, Orlando Magic

Joining Channing Frye on the Magic’s IR for the time being is second-year stud-in-the-making Victor Oladipo, who also suffered a sprained MCL (in his right knee) during a scrimmage last Friday when he landed awkwardly. Oladipo is also listed as “out indefinitely” and will miss tonight’s exhibition game against Miami. With Oladipo out, Elfrid Payton and Evan Fournier will get a chance to show what they can do.
