2) Revamped Bench, led by Jefferson and Aminu, needs to be lethal

As the Mavs have shown in the past, a good bench is going to win you games. Now that the Mavs may have one of the best starting fives in the Western Conference, this new-look second unit will need to be as good as last year’s.

That’s a lot to ask for a Dallas team that’s hoping guys like Richard Jefferson can replace what Vince Carter did in Dallas.

And for guys like Al-Farouq Aminu, who will be replacing Shawn Marion‘s defensive presence and rebounding ability at the small forward position.

Those two will be the biggest keys to this bench. Luckily, they can play multiple positions. Aminu might be the one with the microscope on him this year. He’s extremely athletic, full of potential, but many of question marks after coming from New Orleans.

By the time we get to April, Aminu may either be the Mavs’ X-Factor or a complete bust.
