1) Solid Point Guard Play

It doesn’t matter who out of Jameer Nelson, Devin Harris and Raymond Felton is the starting point guard this season in Dallas. While it makes sense that Rick Carlisle will be playing all three of them during a game, someone has to separate himself from the pack.

While losing Jose Calderon improves Dallas leaps and bounds defensively, the Mavs lost a top-tier 3-point shooter and a great distributor. Who out of these three is going to be the guy that Carlisle can trust to run an offense for an 82-game season?

The Mavs aren’t dealing with a situation like last year (two veterans and two rookies). There’s no clear-cut winner and they’re all veterans. Whichever of the three comes out as the starter needs to be near All-Star form, and that’s a lot to ask for Harris, Felton or Nelson.

Again, sorry Gal Mekel. The way things look, you may not even make the final roster.
