Three-Point Shooting

Pero Antic was brought to the U.S in large part due to his reputation as a powerful center who could also shoot. Antic’s shooting game has never really been about efficiency though, more about the variety that he provides a team. Even during his time playing EuroLeague, Antic’s 3-point numbers weren’t spectacular, averaging 25 and 26.1 percent respectively in the two years Olympiacos was crowned champions.

His effectiveness is a result of the discomfort he causes the opposing center, his ability to draw shot blockers away from the rim, and generally the different look he offers on offense. One of Antic’s greatest weapons upon his arrival was a really nice pump-fake, but he grew to overuse it.

If he wants to continue to offer a true threat from deep, he should use it more sparingly, and try to up his percentages, even just a couple of points from his average of 32.7 percent last season.
