Assists

Teague has shown slow but steady progress in terms of boosting his assists down the years, and for a short while last year it looked as if he was breaking into the group of top distributing point guards. At the turn of the year, Teague was averaging 8.2 assists per game, and in the top five assists leaders in the league, and then it all changed.

From that point on Teague averaged only 5.7 assists a night. What changed?

The Hawks lost Al Horford, their first option on offense, and Teague’s partner in pick and pop plays. With Horford due to return this season, and Millsap having further honed his offense, the onus will be on Teague to average eight to nine assists per game again.
