Shooting

Deonte Burton has an excellent shooting form. Considering Burton is slightly on the small side for an NBA point guard at 6″1′, he has developed a shooting stroke to combat the threat of shot blockers. The 23-year-old shoots with a slow, fluid and sweeping motion that ends with an unusually high release point.

Burton’s unconventional style doesn’t affect his ability to make shots, but he could do with developing greater discipline in picking his spots. Last year at Nevada, Burton shot 47.1 percent from the field and 31.4 percent from deep. With better shot selection, those numbers could improve in a hurry.
