5) Trade Deadline

This one needs to have a bit of a qualifier, since trade possibilities at other times — such as the current one involving the question of whether LeBron James might play with 2014 top pick Andrew Wiggins or star forward Kevin Love — are of great interest.

However, since we’re sticking to specific time periods for the sake of this ranking, let’s keep it to the time leading up to the annual trade deadline. While there’s always some fun talk to be had on who might go where, and for whom or how much, many of the larger proposed deals never ultimately get done.

That often makes the trade deadline somewhat deflating. Although there certainly are exceptions, when some big names will be moved just before the deadline and can help shift the balance of power throughout the league.
