Spurs, Not Only Are A Perennial Playoff Team, A Perennial Championship Contender

Thirty-four of the last 38 postseasons have had San Antonio. Altogether the Spurs have been eliminated during the first round 11 times. Only four times, though, has San Antonio been swept, including 1977 2-0 by the reigning champion Boston Celtics.

Boston is viewed as the epitome of the NBA with 47 playoff appearances and 17 NBA championships. The Spurs will probably never catch the Celtics in terms of titles, but postseasons is not out of the question.

Along with 11 first-round exits, San Antonio has bowed out of the conference semifinals 10 times and conference finals seven times. The Spurs have had a losing record during 16 of their 34 playoff runs. Conversely, San Antonio has had a winning record 14 times.

Based on their NBA franchise history, the Spurs have an 89.4% chance to make the playoffs and 63.1% chance to win 50 games next year. With nearly all the members of the silver and black (Aron Baynes is the lone exception as of now) returning from the 2014 championship team, San Antonio is an imminent title threat.
