Carmelo Anthony It was rumored earlier on that the Heat were exploring the idea of forming a “Big Four” with the addition of Carmelo Anthony. At first we thought it was nothing more than a pipe dream. But maybe, just maybe, it will happen after all. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith seems convinced of it:

"“It should be down to two teams for Carmelo Anthony: The Miami Heat or the New York Knicks. LeBron and South Beach or a return to Gotham City. Melo has not said that it’s down to the Knicks or Heat. It’s just logic. Any other decision would be foolish.”"

Moreover, there reports suggest that the 2012-13 scoring champion is to see whether there is a possibility he could link up with King James.

And according to Stephen A. Smith’s source, it’s the most enticing destination out there.

"“The bottom line is simple: there’s no option out here that compares to staying with the Knicks outside of teaming with LeBron,” another Melo insider explained. “It’s probably the Knicks, in all likelihood. But there’s a reason he hasn’t made his decision."

So with Bosh mulling over Houston’s max contract offer, why not go after Anthony? He would certainly be an upgrade (at least offensively) to any other player not named LeBron James, in South Beach. From 3-point range, from the post, from driving into the lane, from the free-throw line, you name it and ‘Melo can serve up the buckets for you. And at 6-foot-8 and 240 pounds, he can more than hold his own against the bruisers at the NBA power forward spot.

If not, there’s always James to call upon in that situation.
