Load up on short-term contracts for Kevin Love in 2015 The Minnesota Timberwolves have been strong in their resistance to surrender Kevin Love, despite constant reports he wants out. Several teams, including Cleveland dangling the top overall pick in this year’s loaded draft, have been working tirelessly to sway the T-Wolves front office but so far they haven’t been biting at the bait. Therefore the general consensus is that the only way he leaves is through free agency when he opts out at the end of next season. Perhaps the Miami Heat could make a play for him then. In the interim, they could load up on short-term contracts by going after the likes of Ryan Kelly and Jason Smith to fill the void. Both are serviceable players and both could be long-term fixtures since they likely won’t command a high salary. Admittedly, it is unlikely to make either the fans or the likes of LeBron James get excited, but it could be a great move for the future. Still, this would be a very long shot but hey, a guy can dream, right?
