Time To Pull The Trigger On Kevin Love:

I’m really starting to feel like I’m taking crazy pills that we haven’t heard more about the Dubs trying to engineer a trade for Kevin Love. There’s never been a better time.

I get the reluctance to trade Klay Thompson. Really, I do. But think about all the things that have gone down in the past few weeks that seem to have been leading up to this moment.

The Dubs didn’t make Thompson’s 3-point shooting completely expendable by signing Livingston, but it would soften the blow if the Warriors were to ship him away for Love. Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics are working on putting together a package for Love, putting more pressure on the Dubs to avoid looking foolish by holding out on a superstar like Kevin Love just to preserve a great shooter who will never be an All-Star.

Just this morning, the Celtics put themselves in an even better position for Love by acquiring Tyler Zeller and a future first round pick in a three-team trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Brookyln Nets. That will help them more yet another draft pick AND give them insurance for Jared Sullinger or Kelly Olynyk in a potential deal for Love, which means Golden State may not have the best offer on the table anymore.

To top it all off, last night the Charlotte Hornets offered Gordon Hayward a max deal of four years, $63 million. The Utah Jazz will reportedly match that offer to retain their restricted free agent, but either way, Hayward is getting his max deal now.

That means the Dubs are probably going to end up paying Thompson something similar when his free agency comes up, and simply put, he’s not worth it. Trade for Kevin Love, Dubs, before it’s too late.
