Trade History

Compared to some of the trades made by Joe Dumars, Bower has no egregious blemishes on his record. In fact, Bower has shown an eye for when to make a move, and just how much to give up to help improve a team.

Arguably, Bower’s two most important trades in New Orleans were for Peja Stojakovic and Tyson Chandler.

Stojakovic came to New Orleans as a guy who had been a three-time All-Star, and was a virtual steal for the Hornets. In return for Stojakovic, Bower sent the draft rights to Andrew Betts, who would never play in the NBA.

In need of a dominant big man, Bower then chose to target Tyson Chandler. In exchange for Chandler, Bower sent the Chicago Bulls J.R. Smith and P.J. Brown. In his near three seasons with the Hornets, Chandler experienced significant development, becoming the all-around player who has starred in the NBA since.
