2013-14 HoopsHabit NBA All-Rookie Team
By Nathan Giese
G – Michael Carter-Williams, Philadelphia 76ers
This one’s a pretty obvious choice. In such a terrible season for the Philadelphia 76ers, Michael Carter-Williams gives them hope for the future.
First among rookies in scoring, rebounds, assists, steals (fifth in the NBA) and minutes played, MCW is succeeding in the worst possible situation he could’ve been placed into. Not only was Philly just hoping for a manageable season before the the year, they thought they had the makings of a possible playoff sleeper. About a month into the year the 76ers knew they were in trouble and finally demolished the roster at the trade deadline in February, leaving MCW as the go-to player for just about everything.
Some feel he should be the run away ROY and he will get a number of first place votes for the award. MCW is being challenged by Oladipo for ROY honors but won’t have to worry about his spot in the All-Rookie first team.
