Alan Anderson has had a steady career in the NBA and as a seasoned veteran could be the perfect low-priced fit for the rebuilding New York Knicks.

The roster continues to fill in for the New York Knicks this offseason as the franchise hopes to make a positive changes in personnel. The name Alan Anderson will not jump out at many fans, but the 34-year-old wing player is on management’s radar as talks have begun between both parties.

According to the New York Daily News, Anderson’s agent Chris Grier Luchey revealed that his client is interested in calling Madison Square Garden home next season. Luchey shared his thoughts on a possible deal being in the works, but as of right now it’s just a feeling-out period .

"“There was just a little dialogue just about what Alan can bring to the table for the Knicks,” said Luchey after speaking with reporters."

Anderson was barely on the floor last season as a rarely utilized reserve for the Los Angeles Clippers. In only 30 games played, Anderson averaged 2.9 points as he was unable to break into the loaded Clippers lineup featuring players such as Jamal Crawford and Austin Rivers garnering most of the minutes off the bench.

Anderson’s biggest contribution to the team was his locker room presence and keeping the team on track while stars butted heads last season, Chris Paul, who has since been traded to the Houston Rockets, cited Anderson as a trusted veteran and good teammate.

The Clippers may have ended their season with a disappointing first round loss, but to Anderson’s benefit he continues to garner respect from players around the league. The Knicks had more than their fair share of off the court issues that eventually spilled into chaos on the court. A veteran presence to go along with recent signing Ramon Sessions will have the Knicks looking better character-wise.

Luchey continues to pitch Anderson in that light as it’s well scouted the Michigan State alum has lost a few steps over the years and won’t be looked upon for many athletic contributions. He would go on to tell reporters the focus of Anderson’s value being off the court maturity a key example for younger players to follow.

"“One of the things I think Alan can help provide is some stability and professionalism,” he said."

The Brooklyn Nets are also rumored to be interested in bringing back the veteran forward who served as a key rotation player during the team’s playoff run three years ago. Anderson averaged 23 minutes and 7.0 points per game during his two seasons in Brooklyn, proving to be a consistent and steady player off the bench.

The uncertain future regarding Carmelo Anthony will continue to be a factor as to whether or not the Knicks sign Anderson. He will most likely be a veteran minimum signing that will continue to play the reserve role behind younger talent such as Tim Hardaway Jr. and Damyean Dotson.
