Throughout his entire career, Ty Jerome has flown under the radar. Whether it was due to injuries or just not getting a fair shot with the teams he was on, he had a lot working against him.
Jerome has always had the talent. He showed that during his stellar 2025 season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he was one of the more electric reserves in the entire league. He was essentially a 50/40/90 player.
After an injury-riddled year last season in his debut season with the Memphis Grizzlies, Jerome is back and better than ever. And it might lead to something almost no one saw coming.
Ty Jerome could be named an All-Star for the first time if he keeps this up
Jerome just won player of the week for his elite start to the season. He is currently leading the league in scoring at about 35 points per game, while also shooting 56 percent from the field, 43 percent from three-point range, and dishing out six assists per night as well.
Obviously the 35 PPG will go down (or will it…), but Jerome has been nothing short of spectacular thus far and has the Grizzlies at 3-0 on the young season.
He looks like a great fit next to Cameron Boozer and has kept the offense moving and on schedule. He is making a lot of tough shots, but he has shown that he can do that consistently. For a team that is rebuilding and trying to figure out its future, having Jerome in the fold is super beneficial.
But again, this is not the first time Jerome has been this great. With the Cavs, he was taking games over off the bench. He was hitting logo threes. He was skipping up and down the court. He was talking trash. And he was doing all of this next to two ball dominant guards in Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland.
It is still very early in the NBA season. It has not even been a week. However, Jerome has the inside track to his first All-Star selection. He has been that good. And it is something that no one could have seen coming when the season started, but the talent and production has been there in flashes.
He is making the most of an increased role and has been such a fun story. Can he continue it? That is the question, but the answer might be there already.
