A lot has happened to the Memphis Grizzlies during this decade. At the start of it, they were considered to be next up in regards to the contention picture and had a superstar point guard in Ja Morant, an elite defensive big in Jaren Jackson Jr., and other guys like Desmond Bane, Dillon Brooks, and more that were perfect fits for the team.

Instead, the Grizzlies won one playoff series with that group and they officially pulled the plug on the era last season, when they traded Jackson Jr. to the Jazz and they traded away Morant to the Blazers. Bane and Brooks left in the years prior.

Now, Memphis is in a rebuild, with a new crop of young guys in Cameron Boozer, Cedric Coward, and Zach Edey leading the way. And in the early part of the year, they have surprised the entire league.

The Grizzlies are 5-0 and while that is surprising, this team is on the up

Memphis was seen as a team that could be bound for the lottery once again, but for some, they viewed them as a team that could be frisky and fun in the Western Conference this season.

The Grizzlies are 5-0 and while the schedule has been a little light, they have been nothing short of impressive. Ty Jerome had an explosive opening week that saw him lead the league in scoring. Boozer just notched his first career triple double against the Blazers.

Coward and Edey have held down the fort defensively and in the case of Coward, he is also providing efficient offense and showing why he is one of the more underrated young players in the sport.

Head coach Tumoas Iisalo seems to have really built a nice system for his players to thrive in and after butting heads with Morant a lot last season, he seems to have this group playing together.

And for Memphis, they could start the season off 8-0, with games against Sacramento, New Orleans, and an Indiana team without Tyrese Haliburton. So, the good times could continue to roll for this squad.

The Grizzlies are without a doubt heading in the right direction and it remains to be seen if they can ride this momentum all the way to a playoff appearance. However, they have a young core that is going to continue to develop together and make them a formidable contender within the next few seasons.
