The Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo have been at odds with each other for the last couple seasons. From the never-ending trade rumors to the lack of team success the Bucks have had to multiple coaching changes, things have been tumultuous in Milwaukee since their championship win in 2021.

This summer though, both sides seem to be ready for a divorce, as the Bucks are entertaining offers for the star forward, with the team prioritizing young players and draft capital to jumpstart a rebuild.

General manager Jon Horst has been holding out for the best possible offer and rightfully so. However, as the playoffs have gone on, it looks like a dream scenario has emerged for Milwaukee.

The Thunder could become suitors for Giannis Antetokounmpo after their WCF exit

OKC is a year removed from a championship, but with their impending tax bill, and their need for more star power next to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, they could be in the market for a big move.

Sam Presti has never been one to put all of his assets on the table for a superstar, and the team as of right now is not interested in trading for Antetokounmpo. If there is one thing that is clear about the NBA though, it’s that anything can change very fast.

The Thunder are armed with draft capital, including the 12th and 17th picks in this year’s draft. They have a litany of future firsts, they have a lot of intriguing young players that could help the Bucks, and they offer Antetokounmpo the chance to compete for championships yearly. The fit is there.

A package centered around either Jalen Williams or Chet Holmgren, plus another contract like Isaiah Joe or Aaron Wiggins to make the money match, with the two firsts in this year’s draft makes the most sense for OKC. The question is, will they be willing to offer it?

Milwaukee would likely accept that offer in a heartbeat. They get All-NBA talent plus needed draft picks. If they were to get picks 12 and 17, they would have three first round selections this year. In a loaded draft class, they would have the chance to come away huge winners and build a new young core for the future.

If the Thunder decide to enter the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes, they will have the best offer out of any team. The ball is in their court when it comes to that, but this would be the dream scenario for the Bucks this offseason.
