The NBA playoffs are still going strong, but many are keeping a close eye on if and when Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo gets traded. Thanks to ESPN's Jeremy Woo, we may have a better idea of when that trade might happen.
According to Wu, the Bucks have been operating under the assumption that they would have multiple picks in this year's draft. That is notable because they currently only have the 10th pick.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that they may be looking to move Giannis either before or during the June 23rd NBA draft. If that is indeed the case, that means that he could be on a new team in less than a month.
We may soon know when Giannis Antetokounmpo gets traded
If Giannis is indeed traded before or during the draft, it would be surprisingly soon. Usually offseason trades drag out into July or even August.
However, if they were to trade him before free agency even starts, that could have a ripple effect around the league. For starters, many teams might not be able to offer the best trade package before the NBA draft.
That's due to them not officially being able to trade picks or needing time to move salaries around to make the best possible offer.
In that case, that could significantly hurt teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers, who could have as much as $50 million in cap space and three tradeable first-round picks but only after the NBA draft.
The Milwaukee Bucks may be ready to move on from Giannis
From Milwaukee's perspective, it's hard to fault them for wanting to move on. If they can get what they're looking for for their best player, then it makes plenty of sense for them to try and get a deal done before the draft.
It also hints at potential landing spots for Giannis. The Boston Celtics may have interest in acquiring him, while the Atlanta Hawks could have interest in Jaylen Brown.
If the Celtics are willing to move on from Brown, it could set up a blockbuster 3-team trade. A trade in which Boston gets Giannis, the Hawks get Brown, and the Bucks get the sixth and 18th selections in this year's draft as well as three future firsts.
If that deal were to happen, then Milwaukee trading Giannis before the NBA Draft would seem like an obvious choice. It would also prove that the rumors are true.
