3) 2021 Bucks VS Suns

Chris Paul elevating the Suns to the finals in pursuit of his first ring, pitted against the Bucks with Giannis trying to prove himself following back-to-back MVPs? The scriptwriters nailed this one.

Phoenix jumped out to a 2-0 series lead before the Greek Freaks responded by dominating the next four games. Antetokounmpo put up 2k numbers, averaging 35 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 blocks a game, and closed the series with a 50-point explosion en route to Milwaukee’s first title in 50 years.

The Suns put up good fights in games 5 through 7, but Giannis was not to be denied. He gave us arguably the best block of all time and an absolutely iconic moment when he finished off a Jrue Holiday steal with a thunderous alley-oop jam and stared the nation down through ABC’s broadcast. The first finals without LeBron or Curry in six years certainly delivered.

2) 2026 Knicks VS Spurs

This is hands down the greatest five game finals ever. Everything about this series was pure cinema. The Knicks erased a 14 point lead in game 1 to steal home court. Game 2 was another miraculous win for New York, escaping with a one point win after a brutal late game miscommunication by San Antonio.

The Spurs were able to keep the series alive in enemy territory though, and they eked out a four point win in game 3. It looked like they were going to tie the series in game 4, but New York’s magic would prevail as they somehow turned a 29 point deficit into a one point win at the buzzer, the largest finals comeback in history.

The Spurs were still alive as the series went back to Texas, but they blew yet another double digit lead, and the Knicks took their first lead since early in the first quarter, with under 3 minutes to go.

Five game series are usually lopsided in favor of the winner, but San Antonio actually held the lead for 72% of this series, the Knicks just somehow always found a way. This wasn’t just  one of the best finals of the last decade, it’s one of the best ever.

1) 2025 Thunder VS Pacers

The one series that can outdo this year’s is last year’s. The Pacers were given no chance by basketball observers, but just like all playoffs long, Indiana proved them all wrong.

Game 1 ended with Tyrese Haliburton hitting yet another buzzer-beating game winner to give the Pacers their first lead of the night as time expired. The following games weren’t as close, but each team adjusted after each loss and punched back harder than before, all the way up to a 7-game thriller.

Classic moments like J-Dub’s 40-point Game 5 or Pascal Siakam’s poster in Indiana’s big Game 6 win highlighted a very entertaining series. The series ended in an unfortunate fashion, with Hali going down to an Achilles injury after a red-hot start to game 7.

Even then TJ McConnell didn’t let the Pacers go down without a fight. In the end, the Thunder proved to be too much for the Pacers sans-Haliburton, and the beginning of a new era in OKC began.
