Predicting every NBA team's breakout player for 2024-25 season

Memphis Grizzlies - Scotty Pippen Jr.
The Memphis Grizzlies gave Scotty Pippen Jr. an opportunity to prove himself last season, and he did not disappoint. The guard averaged 12.9 points, 4.7 assists and 1.7 steals in 21 appearances for the banged-up Grizzlies, seizing the moment. The Grizzlies recently rewarded him with a multi-year deal, hoping that he can solidify his status as a nightly contributor in 2024-25.
Pippen, son of NBA legend Scottie Pippen, will likely have a role in Memphis' second unit this season. While the sample size was small, Pippen showed last season that he could do a little bit of everything on the court, but his facilitating truly stood out. His passing ability could make him a key second-unit contributor and hidden gem as Ja Morant's backup at the point guard spot.
Miami Heat - Haywood Highsmith
One way or another, the Miami Heat always find hidden gems who blossom into contributors once they sign the dotted line. This season, all eyes are on Haywood Highsmith, the undrafted forward who leaped into the rotation last season and put up strong numbers. With Caleb Martin leaving for the rival Philadelphia 76ers, Highsmith should be tasked with filling his role at the forward spot.
Highsmith's duties will revolve around becoming a reliable 3-and-D contributor with an emphasis on matching up with the toughest players defensively. He has the 3-point shot - hitting 36.8 percent of his career triples - but taking that next step and possibly making a case for All-Defensive honors in 2024-25 is a good goal for the forward; he has the potential to get there.
