Predicting every NBA team's breakout player for 2024-25 season

Philadelphia 76ers - Jared McCain
Jared McCain, the 16th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, looks like a player who can step right into the Philadelphia 76ers' rotation this season. At 6-foot-2, McCain might have occasional problems on defense, but there's no denying he can help on the other end with his sweet perimeter shooting, the strongest part of his game - he shot 41.4 percent on 5.8 triple tries per game in college last season.
With defenses giving so much attention to the newly-formed trio of Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Paul George, shooters will get open looks on the perimeter often. It's a dream scenario for a quality outside shooter like McCain. Of course, to make the most of his time on the court, the guard will have to take strides defensively, which is not out of the equation.
Phoenix Suns - Ryan Dunn
Since they formed their Big 3 of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, there have been plenty of people asking who will be playing defense on Phoenix's roster. This team needed a lift on that side of things, so they likely couldn't have been happier when Ryan Dunn, who many categorized as the top defensive player in this past draft, fell to them late in the first round.
Dunn was a two-way force during the preseason, flexing his trademark individual defense while also tallying 1.4 blocks and 1.2 steals per game. Not only did he look excellent defensively, but Dunn also shot the lights out from three, sinking 43.3 percent of his triples on six tries per game. If that 3-point shot is real, Dunn will be ready to help Phoenix from the moment the season tips off.
