Updated San Antonio Spurs draft pick situation after last-minute trade deadline deal
By Cal Durrett
Few expected the San Antonio Spurs to be back near the bottom of the league standings but halfway through the season, there they are. The Spurs weren't expected to make a big deal at the trade deadline, and they didn't, instead opting for a smaller trade.
They shipped backup forward Doug McDermott to the Indiana Pacers for a second-round pick and Marcus Morris, who they will almost certainly be waived. That won't move the need for them this season but it does add yet another selection to their ever-growing list of draft picks. With that out of the way, here is an up-to-date look at the Spurs' future draft picks.

As you can see, the Spurs have quite the treasure trove of future draft picks, though they will not be able to use each of their 34 selectons. Instead, they could look to consolidate those assets in the near future by either packaging them for veteran help or trading them for further-out draft picks.
Doing so later would help ensure that they have enough assets to build around franchise cornerstone Victor Wembanyama once his second contract kicks in and their roster starts to get very expensive. Fortunately, the Spurs, are well positioned for that inevitability thanks to shrewd move after shrewd move that has helped them build a massive cache of draft picks.
