The "what if" moment that changed every NBA team forever

Minnesota Timberwolves: What if the Timberwolves weren't terrible at drafting?
Over the last 15 years, since the Kevin Garnett trade, no team has had as many high picks as the Minnesota Timberwolves. Although they have had more than their fair share of high picks, they have struck out more than reasonably. Even if you factor in that the top 10 picks are 50/50 boom or bust propositions, they had plenty of busts.
Jared Culver, Kris Dunn, Derrick Williams, and Johnny Flynn were all high-profile draft whiffs, and each was one of the top six selections. Not only that, but Flynn was taken over by Steph Curry and DeMar DeRozan, while Dunn was picked over Jamal Murray. Of course, to their credit, they drafted Kevin Love, Ricky Rubio, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Anthony Edwards. On the other hand, their inability to effectively draft has been the number one reason why they have made only the playoffs three times since 2008.
Worse yet, the Timberwolves traded for future first-round picks to acquire Rudy Gobert, making it much harder for them to build through the draft in the near future. They could always trade towns for more assets, but their track record in recent years doesn't inspire confidence.
