Golden State Warriors: What if Draymond Green had not gotten suspended in the 2016 NBA Finals?

Everything seemed to be going the Golden State Warriors' way through the first four games of the 2016 NBA Finals before power forward Draymond Green picked up yet another technical foul. The Warriors would go on to win Game 4 and take a 3-1 series lead, but Green was later suspended by the NBA after accruing too many technical fouls. That gave the Cleveland Cavaliers the opening they needed to claw their way back into the series.

They staved off elimination in Game 5 and forced a deciding Game 7 behind impressive performances from LeBron and Kyrie Irving. In Game 7, the Cavs kept it close before Cleveland's big three took over. There was an iconic block by LeBron, "The Shot" by Kyrie, and Kevin Love put the clamps on Steph Curry to seal a stunning comeback. After the loss, Draymond was blamed for the Warriors' collapse, and he took responsibility.

Even the Cavs admitted that they goaded him into picking up another tech, which helped turn the tide. Had the Warriors won, they would have been just the fourth team in NBA history to 3-peat and would have capped a historic 73-win season with a championship. Instead, that season is remembered as a failure and a wasted opportunity for the Warriors.
