The 50 greatest NBA players of the 2020s (so far), ranked
By Cal Durrett
12) Kevin Durant
Even despite missing the first year of the decade, Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant still ranks among the best players of the current era. That is made all the more impressive by the fact that this is his third decade in the NBA and he is still putting up stellar numbers.
In 209 games in the four seasons he's played so far in 2020, he's posted 28.2 points on 53.2/40.9/89.1 shooting splits, as well as 6.9 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game. Unsurprisingly, he was named to the All-Star team in each of those seasons, as well as two All-NBA second teams.
At the midway point of the decade, it might seem that a 35-year-old with 16 seasons of experience might not have a lot left in the tank but his offensive output is still among the best in NBA history. That suggests that he could follow in the footsteps of LeBron James and play at a high level into his 40s.
If that were to happen, he could be one of the top five players at decade's end. Not just that but he could climb the all-time scoring list, surpassing the likes of Kobe Bryant and Karl Malone en route to being a top-3 scorer in NBA history.
