The 50 greatest NBA players of the 2020s (so far), ranked

19) Paul George
NBA star Paul George just recently signed with the Philadelphia 76ers but spent the first five years of the decade with the LA Clippers. In the summer of 2019, PG-13 was infamously traded to the Clippers in exchange for five first-round picks and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and while George was still a very good player for the Clippers, it's obvious that the Oklahoma City Thunder won the deal.
To his credit, George averaged an impressive 23 points, 6 rebounds, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game, all with the Clippers. Those are strong numbers, even despite him being in his late 20s at the start of the decade. Unfortunately for the Clippers, he appeared in just 263 games over that span, missing 25 games a season on average. That, combined with the injury woes of co-star Kawhi Leonard, kept the Clippers from living up to their championship potential.
George's injury luck also limited him to just three all-star appearances and one All-NBA appearance after having six and five prior to joining the Clippers. Nevertheless, his numbers show that he still has something left in the tank. The 76ers certainly hope so after inking him to a 4-year, $212 million deal.
At 34 years old, he may not fully live up to that contract but he should still have a couple of great seasons left in him. Which bodes well for his chances of staying in the top 20 of the greatest players of the decade by the end of the 2020s.
