The 50 greatest NBA players of the 2020s (so far), ranked
By Cal Durrett
40) Zach LaVine
Zach LaVine has become a bit underrated after a foot injury cost him most of the 2023–24 season, making his contract, which will pay him at least $43 million a year for the next three seasons, toxic. Nevertheless, he has been healthy enough to consistently put up big numbers as a member of the Chicago Bulls, averaging 24.9 points and 4.4 assists per game in 287 games.
With two All-Star appearances in five seasons, that is strong enough of a resume for him to be considered among the best players of the 2020s so far. LaVine's future is far less certain, however. The Bulls are apparently looking to trade him and it's anyone's guess where he might end up next and it's uncertain how he will look after a second surgery on his foot.
Fortunately, he is only 29 years old, so it's possible that he has three or four good seasons left in the tank. and another year or two left as a capable rotation player. Another all-star appearance or two would keep him from dropping off this list at the end of the decade, which is possible, albeit questionable at this point.
