The 5 most important players heading into the Celtics-Mavericks NBA Finals
1. Luka Dončić- Dallas Mavericks
The trade with the Atlanta Hawks has been completed. We now know who won that deal. It is Dallas. You can't find anything to dispute. Trae Young, as good as he has been, doesn't match up with Luka, and the resume shows. With just one more series victory and another series MVP, the former Slovenian star will have done something that only Dirk Nowitzki was able to do for the Dallas franchise, win an NBA championship for Dallas
It won't be that easy. Though Anthony Edwards and Karl Anthony-Towns brought a good challenge, this Boston team is a bit different. The performance in Game 5 will be particularly important because of what it ultimately led to for the Mavericks and how it showcased Luka's ability to involve his teammates. Players like that prevent the defense from keying in on him alone and open up the floor for other contributors.
The Mavericks may not be favored going into the series, but they certainly have their work cut out for them. It will be up to Luka to lead the charge as the team makes its way to the biggest stage in basketball. The Celtics have been considered as one of the best teams in the league this year and the Mavericks were a sleeper. If Luka does his job, don't be surprised if Dallas pulls off the upset and gets the hardware.
