3) Avery Johnson
Former player Avery Johnson has the distinction of being the only player on this list to also become a coach. With a nickname like Little General, it's not entirely surprising. Johnson went undrafted initially but broke into the NBA with the Seattle Supersonics, then made stops with the Nuggets before joining the Spurs for the first time.
In a season and a half, he played 67 games before being cut and spending nearly 50 games in Houston. He re-signed with the Spurs and had a then-career high of 8.7 points and 7.5 assists, only to leave in free agency before returning a year later and spending the next 6 and a half years of his career there. carving out a major role with the Spurs playing next to David Robinson, and later Robinson and Duncan.
Better still, he won a championship in 1999 as the team's starting point guard. Johnson later played in Denver before finally playing in Dallas. All told, Johnson spent 13 of his 16 seasons in the NBA playing for a Texas team, playing 758 games in total. That is the most combined games for any player who has played for the Spurs, Rockets, and Mavs.
