6) Jimmy Butler
Almost every summer, a star player seemingly becomes available and this summer it appears that Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler may be that player. Butler reportedly wants a $113 million extension, even though he is approaching age 35, which apparently and understandably has the Heat second-guessing his future with the team.
Team President Pat Riley's recent comments also suggest that they may opt to play hardball with Butler and ESPN's Zach Lowe has even stated that he believes that Butler may be traded this summer. The Sixers are also reported to be very interested in him, though they would probably have to give up a lot to convince a rival to trade him to Philly.
Trading two first-round picks for Butler would allow the Heat to use those assets as well as a $40+ million trade exception to pursue the likes of Trae Young, Donovan Mitchell, or Darius Garland.
Meanwhile, the Sixers would bring back Butler, who last played for them in 2019 before he signed with the Heat. While Butler is aging, he could be just what the Sixers need to make a deep playoff run and give Embiid his best chance of winning a championship.
