7) LeBron James

Although Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is expected to re-sign with the team this summer, the Sixers have been labeled a dark horse team to try and land him. They would have enough cap space to offer him a max contract and he'd potentially be joining a team with a recent league MVP as well as a rising star in Embiid and Maxey.

After running into the Denver Nuggets each of the last two postseasons and seeing other teams emerge in the Western Conference, perhaps he would be open to playing in the Eastern Conference on a team that has a chance to go to the NBA Finals with him. Admittedly, it may be far-fetched, but the Sixers can at least make a strong case and have the ability to sign him without having to tear up their roster to trade for him.

Had Team USA started playing closer to the start of free agency, Embiid might be able to try to lure him away from Los Angeles. Perhaps something changes between now and the start of free agency to give the Sixers a better chance but there are other great players they can pursue if their pipedream target doesn't decide to sign.
